These days lots of my friends are pregnant…it must come with passing that mid-twenties-age-group thing…anyway, one of my friends had her baby girl last week! So, Saturday night I got busy making her baby gift, she requested a nursing cover that wasn’t too girly, and was kind of subdued. So, I went with Vintage Modern Houndstooth and used my Not Your Average Nursing Cover tutorial.
But then, I couldn’t leave it at that for this new baby girl…so I made a few little burp cloth/face wipes out of some Vintage Modern Layer Cake and some Shannon Cuddle/Minky:
I trimmed the layer cake pieces to 9″ x 10″ {note: you could also make four out of a single fat quarter!}, then sewed some minky, leftover from baby bibs, right sides together, turned, and top stitched! They whipped up super fast, and are the size I always carry in my diaper bag {my originals are made from fat quarters and have terrycloth on the back…but I’ll be making some more of these if I ever have another!}.
Of course, we can’t forget the boys amidst all this girliness…so, when Chrissy at Sew Lux Fabric asked if I’d be interested in putting together a bundle for their new Curated Collections, of course I was, and I decided to go with a boy bundle {since my last choice was very girly!}, so I present For the Boys:

Some trucks, lime, gray, navy, and a touch of aqua…really, this is little boy heaven {at least it will be to Silas, though, I’ll have to hide that truck fabric until I make something with it, or he will expect to play with it, remember the truck pillow?}. And, even better, the bundle is on a special sale, $17 for 8 fat quarters, that’s just over $2 each!
I’m guessing you may have noticed I am often linking to Sew Lux, and we do get rewards when our readers shop through our affiliate links {which help us fund giveaways and make fun things!}, but really, the service is unbeatable, the shipping is quick, and Chrissy and her mom Linda are just the sweetest ladies, running a small business together {kind of like us!}. So, I’m super happy to support them and their shop. And have another excuse to buy lots of fabric. Happy shopping!

Your friends are very lucky! I love your bundle too! Sometimes it can be hard to find boy themed fabrics, but this is the perfect collection!
