I finished up my lunchtime sewing from a few weeks back, and I am thrilled with the results! I had stashed some Michael Miller Mirror Dots and they made the perfect contrast to the Half Moon Modern. Then, I used some Moda Bella Turquoise {that was supposed to be Teal…but that’s a different story} for the lining and reverse of the handles.
I put two layers of insulated batting in it, one for the outside and one for the lining {which I just loosely grid quilted}, that way it will be sure to keep our lunch cool. I sized it to fit Silas’s lunch box and thermos cup:
However, I’ve also learned that it perfectly fits three Shake ‘n’ Go cars instead…We’ll see if it actually gets used for lunches. But, I guess as long as he loves it, I was successful.
And, because my good friend has been e-mailing me about zippers, I am working on a tutorial for the perfect zip pouch, and it will be on our new Zippers 101 page! A couple others have also asked about zippers, so please let me know what kind of zipper tutorials you’d like to see, and I’ll work on adding them too!
P.S. Linking up with amylouwho for #notgoingtosewingsummit & show & tell Friday!

Oh cool, tutorials with zippers! I hate zippers and always end up ditching the zipper foot and just using either the regular one or this other one that’s some other kind of foot but I don’t know what it is! It just lets me get close. I’m so not a perfectionist! But I would love to know a lot more about sewing with zippers, especially little pouches and things. Would be very useful!
I seriously wanted to squeel when I saw this, It is so cute! I can’t wait for your zippers 101 page, because I’m so lame at them. Thanks for sharing.
First of all, your little bag is adorable! And secondly, I’d love to know how to make those cute little zipper stops/taps that you have on the bag.

I love your lunch bag! I really need to make myself one this weekend. My current (bought) one is really smelly, and yes I do wash it regularly, it’s just old and I can’t get the smell out! I’ve been putting off making one thinking it needs to be square, but your bag’s given me other ideas…

I would like a tutorial on a zipper that is sort of a half circle….like the kind that is on a dumpling shaped pouch….
Thanks
This is adorable…….a must make for me! I can use all the zipper help you can give!
Gorgeous bag, I love the colours and the way the fabrics work so well together! Zippers are not my favourite things…so I look forward to your tutorial too

This is awesome! I love that quilting on the outside layer!
lunch is bound to taste a whole lot better when it is served in a lunchbag this great!
Great lunch bag. I would love to know how to easily install a zipper without having any exposed seams. I like the finished look. I’d love to know how to make a zippy pouch (lined) and also zippered pockets inside or outside of bags as well as zipping the bag closed. I just want to learn everything about a zipper. Looking forward to your tutorial.
Darling bag!!
CUTE bag! I may have to do the same for my daughter next year for school.
Such a great bag! I love the fabrics.
