Quick Project

I decided to make stockings for my two grandchildren, Tommy and Chloe, and am happy to have them all finished. I purchased the red with black and white dogs last year while in CA, visiting Jennie. The green cupcake fabric I have had for a couple of years. They were very quick and I did not add a lot of embellishment, just a little machine quilting and a binding. There are so many stocking tutorials on blogs everywhere, but if you would like a quick tutorial let me know and I would be happy to do one here for you.  I was going to take at least one more photo showing the lining but, camera battery is dead and on the charger. I will try to take one before they are filled and in the mail on their way to two special little ones!! I love Christmas!!

I do miss having children around, so many memories of when my children were growing up. To start with, the Christmas plays at church. Oh they were so fun, the singing and the acting and special costumes. Since our children were homeschooled, the plays at church were very important for them to learn to sing and act, their mommy was very lacking in that area. Until the year our son no longer wanted to be in the play at four years of age because he didn’t like that he felt like a fish in a fishbowl. We laughed so hard! He is still like that. Our daughters always liked center stage, no stage fright there!!

I hope you don’t mind a little walk down memory lane!

If you would like to share with us something you cherish at Christmas time we would love to hear!!

  3. These stockings are darling! I really want to make stockings for my three girls, but I’m waiting one more year — by then I think (I hope) everyone will be old enough to not try to yank them down from the mantel just for fun…

I love the Christmas Eve service at our church every year when my girls dress up and sing. Then we come home and open up presents together — it’s an old German tradition to do it on Christmas Eve, and it makes Christmas Day a little more relaxing in the long run. 🙂

  4. My boys never much liked being center stage either. No plays for them….but there were lots of other fun games. My favorite….the indoor snowball fight with big marshmallows!

  5. The stockings are really cute! I remember my sons being in Christmas plays when they were little. But as with most things, one son loved the attention and the other could “take it or leave it”!

  6. Hehe, the kids at our church just did their Christmas musical, it brought back lots of memories! And I know those stockings will be special to Tommy and Chloe. Too cute!

  7. Making stockings for my family is on my list but it keeps getting bumped down the list; there are 8 of us so it will be a quick, big project. I love your use of binding around the top and how they are so Christmassy without being Christmas fabrics. Have a good day!

  8. I love the stockings you have made for your sweet grandchildren, and I’m sure they will too! It was lovely to hear your memories ….such a wonderful time with children’s music and productions…I’m enjoying those times again now with my grandbabies!
