Back To Sewing

|

Now that the days are not as long and bright as they once were, I needed a little help. Jennie and I decided to invest in this OttLite for me. It has been wonderful. So far I have only used it while sitting and doing some embroidery, but I have plans of taking it into my sewing room and using it while at my machine.DSC_0089The light is adjustable and can move to just the spot where I need it. It took a little getting used to having that bright of light over me, but once I did it makes all the difference.  I chose the floor lamp so it would not take up valuable table space. I love it and would consider buying another lamp for using in both of my sewing spaces.

DSC_0090Here is a closer look at the lamp. The other wonderful thing about this light was that it was 50% off at JoAnn fabrics. A great deal!

DSC_0088My grandchildren and daughter are home so I got right back into sewing. I had so much fun while they were here and will cherish that time!  I started with these trip around the world blocks. I used my favorite The Simple Life fabric and love the way these two blocks turned out. I especially love the red, pink and aqua color scheme.

DSC_0100I also looked into my other favorite fabric selection and found these Sophie prints in the same color scheme and love the way they turned out as well.DSC_0095I put them together and I think they look great. I did find that while I cut my own 2 1/2″ strips of The Simple Life and used jelly roll strips of the Sophie that my strips I cut were just a little narrower. My 1/4″ seam allowance using the jelly roll strips must be different. I think I will measure and trim my jelly roll strips before sewing them together next time. Do you ever have that problem? Good thing I have some fat quarters of Sophie left, I guess I will have to use the two blocks I made for a small project.

DSC_0096A close up!

DSC_0099I hope you have a great weekend and get a little (or a lot) of sewing in!! I am going to do my best.

  11. Love this. I can see this in that popular quilt that is on the web. What I especially like about it is the color choice. I was told from someone on Twitter that not all precuts are correctly cut. Its pretty!
