Finished Scrappy Trip Along Blocks

The blocks are sewn! Norah has decided to take some good naps this week, and I’ve actually spent a little quality time with my sewing machine. Although this quilt is scrappy in one sense, I actually put a lot of thought into the layout {even though I ended up not being thrilled with the way a couple of the blocks came out, but I cannot tell now that they’re in the quilt.

I chose to restrain myself and just make a toddler size quilt, since I planned this to be for Norah and it will be a while before she is even in a toddler bed, much less something larger. Since Silas loves to play with his Castle Peeps quilt, it seemed like a good size to repeat.

I’ve picked up some Kona in Flesh {it was the perfect pink, but I feel like the name is kind of morbid…} for a little border, and then I’m planning a scrappy border {like my mom’s!}, and then yesterday I ordered a spool of variegated Aurifil in pink…I am really hoping it will work and look cute {especially since I ordered the big spool-this is only my second time using Aurifil, but everyone raves about it, and I couldn’t find any other variegated cotton locally, so I just decided to try it!}.

So, that is probably where you’ll find me over the next few days, working away on this quilt that seems to have replaced all my scheduled projects.  It’s really nice to just break free every once in a while!
