Garden Steps Stitch and Quilt Along Progress

Yesterday I finished this block from our Garden Steps Stitch and Quilt Along.

DSC_0196The next blocks are some that I had finished before, {the last one is the final block}. If you have seen these already, sorry! I still have one partial and one whole block to embroider.

DSC_0208My signature block that has been updated with the correct date, I think the first one said August 2013, that date came and went. I am really happy to have gotten these out and had a look at them again and seeing this quilt getting finished.

DSC_0210These are the backing and border fabrics I have chosen, I always second guess this stage. What do you think, should I choose something for the backing that is not so bold? Tell me what you think, I really do appreciate your thoughts and suggestions!!

Today is a bright and sunny day here in VA. {Still very cold though!} Soon I will be outside in the garden playing with dirt and real flowers. This past weekend my husband, Stan and I went outside and cut down the old Clematis vines that were brown,  but what we discovered was that they had big beautiful buds forming on them already!! I can’t wait!!

Happy Wednesday!

Clara, these are so pretty! I finished all my embroidery last October, I got the top finished and wanted to try my hand at making a pieced back….oh my! I kept adding and embellishing, my darling husband looked at it on the design wall and said that is too pretty to be a quilt back – it became a front. Both are at the long armers waiting to be quilted – I am really excited to see what Mary does with them. I have taken pictures, but have not posted any of them. XOOX

I love seeing embroidery and quilting come together; your blocks are so pretty!! I think a bold quilt back makes the back as pretty as the front especially when you find the perfect fabric! Hope it warms up soon. It is a chilly day here in CA, too.

These are lovely – the combination of stitchery and patchwork is so neat.

your blocks are wonderful. i love how you put embrodery together with your quilting. i think i would go with a bold solid colored bak to show case the final quilting and not take away from the front. either way it will be gorgeous

I love it. The colors are beautiful, but I’m not doing the quilt along, so don’t let my opinion sway if others disagree. :-)

Very pretty! I need to get my blocks together and get mine quilted. I think the backing fabric looks great. I’ll be honest and say that I don’t put much thought into my backings–whatever will go well with the front of the quilt and is a good price gets on the back! ;)
