This weekend I saw these pretties in the grocery store and my husband snapped them up right away! I love how bright and cheerful they are!! Red seemed the right choice.
I have been trying my hand at {a little bit of} hand quilting. I would really like to handquilt one of my finished quilt tops but realize I need a lot of practice. This is what I made to begin the practicing, and I love mug rugs and red and hexagons and this fabric!! It’s a little wonky but that won’t stop me from using it!
Since I was trying something new on the front I decided to give a little free motion quilting on the back a try. I think I kind of like the way it turned out. I am going to try to do a little more practice this week on both handquilting and free motion quilting!! What about you, are you trying anything new?

My morning cup of coffee on my new little mug rug on my {husband’s} desk, where I spent quite a bit of time this weekend, doing taxes!! That is the not so fun part.
I have quite a few projects in line to work on and I hope to be back soon to show you a few! I have been fabric shopping so I will get that ready to post some pics, fun, fun, fun. I also have a new quilt shop in the area that I live in, yay!! I did make two trips last week. They carry quite a good selection of Moda Bella Solids, that is great news to me. They don’t have an online shop yet but are in the process of doing that.
Happy sewing!!

What a cute mug rug! I’m surprised you don’t hand quilt much, especially since you are so fantastic at embroidery. They are two different beasts, though. I personally love the look of free motion quilting. I fremotioned my tree skirt, and use it on a lot of my appliqués items.
The mug rug is cute and I get to see hexagons everywhere I go. Even my 12 year old is obsessed with them now.

My husband bought me some potted tulips, and I think I killed them.
But at least my mums he bought me seem to be doing good! I love your mug rug!

Your mug rug is adorable. Tulips are my favorite!
Are you kidding, it’s adorable! I think anyone who does anything by hand anymore is amazing. I can’t imagine how people sewed everything by hand years ago. Amazing. The mug rug is really cute, and you are so lucky your hubby got you those flowers just because! How sweet!
Your hand quilted mug rug is adorable! So pretty with the colourful mug and gorgeous tulips too!

Just prefect, i love making hexagons with EPP and red with aqua is my favourite colour combination.
Everything is so very pretty about this post.

Your mug rug is so pretty! I adore red and it works so well with aqua and white too. I’d like my husband to buy me some pretty red tulips, but he’s not the type to “waste money on flowers” (his words!). He’d rather grow them for me! I love that your coffee mug matches the mug rug beautifully.
Hi, I’m Holly! I just love the fabrics I see here on your blog! They make me feel happy. ♥
