Although I’m not as fast as many of the quilters out there, I’m still working on my Scrappy Trip Around the World Quilt {you can read the beginning here}. After seeing this quilt, I knew I needed to add some pretty purples to my quilt, even though I only have a few, and I’m so glad I did:
I also ordered some of The Simple Life by Tasha Noel for Riley Blake for the back, and gingham for the binding. I have been wanting to get my hands on some of The Simple Life, but wasn’t sure what I’d use it for, it is kind of nice to buy fabric with a purpose!
Now I just have to make a few more blocks. I’m thinking a 3 x 4 layout will be perfect {and then I’m half way done, and 4 x 5 will make it a little too big for a toddler bed….}, with maybe a border or two {I am really loving the border idea my mom is using – so maybe I’ll attempt a scrappy border!}.
I now know why everyone jumped on this bandwagon. Such a fun, quick, quilt block, and it makes fabrics that I might not put together, but I love, look great together.
So, have you made a scrappy trip around the world quilt? Are you planning one?

My blocks are coming together slowly also, but mine will be king size so it will take a lot longer! I love your fabric choices!

this is too much sweet and girlie prettiness in one quilt! so cute! (and doesn’t it feel good to just indulge in the super girlie sometimes?)

You have some awesome scraps…
Such a dainty quilt! Good choice on the backing material, I can see a girl spending a lot of time gazing it’s vignettes!
If I had a dedicated sewing space, I would enjoy working on a block of scrappy fun now and then, but not just yet. I am, however, vicariously enjoying your progress. And your Mom’s, too! Love the borders!
It is so pretty Jennie, I love your colours. I found scrappy trips SO addictive took less than a week to finish including quilting, that’s how much I loved it!
I love the border on your mom’s quilt. I’ve done one scrappy tripalong but I cheated and cut stash so it matched lol. I started a second one last week that is truely scrappy, but I have 60 blocks and have no idea what I will do with a quilt that huge lol! They are sure fun!!
Your scrappy is looking lovely! The purple is great and I adore that simple life you’ve chosen for the backing

I love the colors in your Around the world project. You inspired me to make one. I never thought that and Around the world quilt would look good scrappy but it really is pretty!
I pulled out all of my fat quarters that I have been collecting. I sorted them by color and then picked them at random to make a scrappy block and it came out pretty nice. I have been cutting and cutting and sewing and sewing. I will post a photo on my blog once I get a few more made.
Well done. It is going to be beautiful.

I want to make one, but am having trouble deciding on what fabric to use. I get so hung up on things like that. I need to just grab some fat quarters and play.
Yours is darling!!
