Hello Saturday! A Little Quilt Finish!

|

I finished this little quilt and I wanted to show you a couple of the steps, I usually completely finish a project and then wish I had taken a few pictures along the way. I know I like to see how others do things. I really like the way a simple quilt looks like with the quilting sewn corner to corner, so that is what I chose for this baby doll quilt!

Using my walking foot is not only great for the quilting but for sewing on the binding as well. This time I left the batting untrimmed until after the quilting was complete. I liked the way it turned out. (Usually I trim it before I sew on the binding).

A quick snapshot outside as the sun was beginning to set. I made a little flower for the front of the bag for extra cuteness.

Here is the quilt with the little diaper bag made especially for sweet Norah. She is such a sweetie and I hope she has a lot of fun playing with these and her babies.  Her and Silas were here all last week and we had so much fun. Trains, duplos, books and lots of coloring. It was fairly nice weather so we were able to play outside and even do a little swimming in the kiddy pool. Diaper bag & quiltAll folded up and ready to travel to its new home for baby Stella! I can’t wait to see photos of  her with them in her nursery gliders & rockers. Did I mention that I am so thrilled that they live so much closer and can see them in just a short drive? Well, I love it!!

Now onto making some fun things for Silas, I loved all the great ideas you all gave me!! Thank you!

Have a great weekend and Happy Labor Day to you!

  1. That mini diaper bag is just the cutest!!! I might have to make something like this for my 2yo since she is such a helpful big sister. 🙂

  2. Oh that is just so sweet! My grandbabies also live close. How lucky are we.
For your little man I made bean bags with his favorite super heros. I double lined then and filled them with popcorn. He loves them. Just an idea for you. Have a nice weekend.

  3. You ladies always make the cutest, prettiest, most beautiful things. Won’t it be fun when we out in internet-land get to meet the new baby! (Stella is her name I see. I love that, so perfect with the other two names, too. Not sure I knew that before; been so busy lately I haven’t been good about keeping up with my blog reading like I want to)

  4. Oh, how I love this! I was thinking this would make an awesome new-baby gift to use a mini diaper bag and a little cover up for the newborn. Then a note could say to keep it for the little lady when she has dollies to take care of when she’s a bit older. I will surely keep this in my stash of ideas! Thank you!

  5. Such pretty projects, and I do love the photos of the work in progress, loved seeing the close up texture of the quilting! This is a really sweet gift for any lucky little girl to play baby care with!
