A Swoon Block Table Topper

This may be a small finish but not small in size.  This block is large! I had read the measurements but did not really picture how large it was going to turn out to be actually! But I love it!! I made sure to get a pic. before I quilted it and bound it.

I decided to do just a little straight line quilting, I think next time I will do more.

The back is from some Mary Engelbreit that I have had in my stash for quite a while, thought it would be good since it will be either used as a table topper or wall  hanging and the back is pretty too.

I really like this fabric line by Tasha Noel, The Simple Life, it is still available on Etsy and in other shops too.

I did feel a great deal of satisfaction after I finished this block because I have had the pieces cut for a long time. I have made a few bags and several other small things before finally deciding to tackle this block. I am glad I did. It just needs to be washed and dried for a nice quilty look (and maybe that will help with its wonkyness, or maybe not)!! It’s okay with me either way.

The pattern is by Camille, you can buy it here.

There are so many gorgeous Swoon quilts all over the internet, if you look and haven’t made one yet you may just change your mind. My plan is to make the whole quilt eventually, I just wanted to get this block completed first.

  1. I’ve made 2 quilts using this block it is amazingly large on it’s own. I had the brain storm to make one block at 80 inches square for one of the backs. It really is stellar. And makes for a wonderful quilt on it’s own. Never thought of making one for a table topper. This is a great idea. Thanks
