Round 2 of the Modern Stitching Bee is in full swing…and I have finally caught up! Here is the January block for Katy of The Littlest Thistle, finished before the final days of the month. This is her inspiration quilt, I think it’s going to be really pretty.
And, here’s my mom’s finished block too! I really like how they both turned out so unique, and yet, hopefully, fit well with the rest. These blocks measure a giant 18 1/2″ x 24 1/2″, so Katy only asked that we make one each.
And here are my October blocks for Emily of Strawberry Patch Ramblings. Since my blocks are so very late, and she had an issue with not all the blocks measuring the correct size, I made three blocks instead of two. The blocks are built of 1 1/2″ strips, but I made my outer strip 1 3/4″ so that she could square it up exactly the way she wants, and not risk it being too small. Leanne of She Can Quilt has a great tutorial for checking your seam allowance, which is very important if you’re making blocks for others.
And finally, the blocks I made for Leanne that she received a while ago. Leanne’s style is amazing, so it doesn’t surprise me that she chose the Economy block before the big sew-along got started. She’s already put together her quilt top and it is stunning. You can find the quilt along on Instagram using the #economyblockalong tag.
So, that is the sewing I’ve accomplished over the last couple of weeks. We’ve been trapped inside by all this cold weather, which actually hinders the sewing because the little ones get bored! Oh well, we’re doing our best to stay warm and have fun. Oh, and maybe do a little cleaning/organizing of my stash too, again, thanks to Instagram and #thegreatfabricdestash!
