The Alder Skirt {Off to Quilt Market}

Alder-Skirt-1I’m on my way to Quilt Market today {I am still in a bit of disbelief!}, but I wanted to stop by and leave you with the one new clothing item I made myself, the Alder skirt by Imagine Gnats.ย  I had seen Rachael’s post on the skirt a while back, and knew I had to make it.ย  So I was thrilled it was available to stitch up in time for market {you can see all her tester versions here!}

Alder-Skirt-2I used Maisie by Maude Asbury for Blend Fabrics, since I knew the large gray print was amazing after sewing the Emma clutch with it for Blend’s booth at market, and I’m so glad I did!ย  I used a contrast for the pocket lining and another for the waist band, because I really liked the way the original skirt {and pattern cover} looked.ย  Even though Rachael was generous enough to give me the pattern {after I told her I wanted to make it when it was released}, I was planning on buying it.Alder-Skirt-3I did add a hem band and a contrast to the bottom, because I felt like it and I hate trying to fold an even hem.ย  I love the touch it added.

Alder-Skirt-4I am super happy with this skirt and know I’ll be making a few more {I love skirts!}.ย  It sewed up really easily and the pattern was so easy to follow.ย  I made myself the size I typically wear and felt that it was very true to size.ย  If you’re looking for a skirt pattern for summer, this is it!

And now, I’m off to Quilt Market!ย  The blog will probably be quiet while I’m gone, but I’ll try to Instagram some pictures while I”m there, and, of course, have a few posts on my return {and a few more things my mom and I sewed for market too!}.ย  Have a happy weekend!
