Hello and welcome to my stop on the First Blush Blog Hop, the sweet, vintage style fabric is the debut collection from Ruby Red Designs for Windham Fabrics. This collection can be seen in the First Blush Block of the Month, which is designed by It’s Sew Emma and uses a special 30 degree Starburst ruler by Creative Grids.img_4786

When I saw these pretty colors, I immediately thought they would make a perfect picnic quilt. I wanted something that was large and would showcase the pretty prints (and that would sew up quick, as I’m still adjusting to our new routines).

I made a simple four patch using the same measurements from my Take Along Quilt tutorial (the first quilt tutorial I shared on the blog!). The four patches alternate with one large square, so I chose all my favorite larger prints for those.

Here is the whole quilt, it turned out bigger than I anticipated, but my children are already excited to use it (once it gets quilted of course). Just as a little aside, one of my goals this year was to make more quilts, but I haven’t really had much success on that front, so I’m really excited to add this one to our collection!

And some close ups of the fabrics, I found it hard to capture these colors in our warm, southern light, but I hope this shows you how pretty they are!
