Laminate Fabric Pouches

Zipper pouches will always be my favorite project. They come together quickly, are useful, and make great gifts. For these pretty pouches I used some laminate fabric that’s been in my sewing room for years (literally!). While it might be difficult to find this fabric, it’s Marmalade by Bonnie & Camille for Moda, there are lots of other pretty laminates out there. A quick search on Etsy for Laminated Cotton or Coated Cotton returns so many options.

Both of these pouches are made from 8″ x 10″ rectangles, with 1 1/2″ corners cut into the bottom. I used my easy Zipper Only Method to put in the zippers and lined them with solid colored PUL, a water resistant fabric that is softer and more flexible than laminate. While nothing fancy, I think they’ll make great toiletry or makeup pouches, and perfect gifts!

With Thanksgiving falling on the earliest possible date this year, it’s time to start on Christmas gifts! If you’re looking for free projects, make sure to check out the Free Patterns page, and, for Thanksgiving week I’m offering 40% off all the patterns in my shop with the code thankful2016, so if you were looking for a pattern now is a great time.

I’m hoping to introduce at least one more freebie this year, I’d love to hear suggestions for what you’d like to make!

  1. I often make pouches as presents but have trie dirty sewing with laminate fabric. I love the Marmalade fabric choice, they are really pretty and being laminate practical too as they can be wiped clean. x
