Finished Sophie Car Seat/Stroller Quilt {Baby Lydia}

I have just finished the latest handmade item that I made for little baby Lydia. Her very own car seat/stroller quilt. I used Jennie’s tutorial over at the Moda Bake Shop.

It is washed and dried and all crinkly for her to cuddle up under. It is getting very cold where they live, and around here too. No snow yet, but maybe soon!!

The quilt pattern is from, a free pattern, it is designed by Darlene Zimmerman and is called Fresh Tradition Doll Quilt! I originally saw this quilt on a really cute blog, Messy Jesse, and was very inspired to make my own for Lydia. I am glad that I did because the colors are perfect.

I used a partial charm pack from Chez Moi, it is called Mimi. I also used a  Moda Bella Solid in Plum that I purchased from my local quilt shop. I would love to own so many of their great colors. It is truly like candy looking at them all.

The thread that I quilted it with was in my thread drawer from a long time ago. It is the perfect plum color, I think!!

The back and binding fabric is from Chez Moi, it is from the Coquette line. Perfect match too! I can’t wait to see it with sweet baby Lydia covered up with it. I hope it keeps her cozy warm when taking car trips or outside. I did layer it with  Warm & White cotton batting. This baby needs warm quilts as they are in a cold part of the country.

Are you busy getting ready for Christmas? I have done a little shopping. It is really fun shopping for toddlers and babies, which we now have 5 in the family. I just mainly shop in the toys and clothes. Fun, fun, fun!!

Tutorials of 2012

When looking back on 2012 one thing that really stands out is the tutorials!  So, if you’re new here, I thought it would be fun to do a little tutorial round-up.  So, in no particular order, here are the tutorials we’ve shared over the last year:

  1. Kindle Fire Cover {our most popular post of 2012 by far!}
  2. Little Baby Bibs
  3. Embroidered Book Bag
  4. Basic Zipper Pouch
  5. French Seam Pillowcase
  6. Sewing with Selvages
  7. Snack or Toy Pouch
  8. Princess and the Pea Pincushion {at Riley Blake Cutting Corners}
  9. Bedside Trio {Sew Lux Design Challenge}
  10. Charming Book Bag
  11. Sophie Car Seat Quilt {in the Top 10 at the Moda Bake Shop}
  12. Chic Mama Stroller Organizer {at the Moda Bake Shop}
  13. Little Charmer Wallet {at Quilter in the Gap}
  14. Pretty Little Key Fob

I think that’s all of them {though, this is the third time I’ve made the collage, because I kept remembering more, so there may be more!}.  You can find all our past tutorials here too!  If you’ve made something from any of our tutorials, we’d love for you to add it to the Flickr group, or send us an e-mail.

P.S. If you’d like to make any of our projects for sale, you can purchase a tutorial license here! We’d also love to help promote your shop!

Goodbye 2012

It has been a big year for us, and, to finish 2012 on an exciting note, our Sophie Car Seat Quilt was one of the top viewed projects at the Moda Bake Shop. Their Moda Bake Shop 2012 in Review post has all the details.

And, to help celebrate, our friends at Sew Lux Fabric & Gifts have put together some new kits, if you want to make one too!

We cannot wait to see what 2013 has in store for us too!

P.S. Can you believe how tiny Norah used to be? Wow, time really does fly!

Baking Today {Stroller Organizer Tutorial}

…on the Moda Bake Shop!  {Not to be confused with baking in the kitchen, as that rarely happens around here.}  Today I’m sharing my Stroller Organizer.  I’ve been wanting to make one of these for a long time, always feeling dissatisfied with the boring black one I had bought.  This is sure to make a statement!

If you’re visiting here for the first time from the Moda Bake Shop, welcome!  I hope you take a look around.  You’ll find a variety of tutorials, embroidery, and even a pattern shop with patchwork bags.  We’d love for you to subscribe if you like what you see!

And, if you want to make one yourself, Chrissy at Sew Lux Fabric and Gifts has put together a lovely kit at a special price, you can find it in Coquette, Oh Deer!, and Bungle Jungle, all at a special price, no coupon needed, just head over!  {A little shameless promotion: my car seat quilt tutorial would make a great matching set with this stroller organizer!}

And, you may have noticed, many of my designs revolve around my kids, is there a particular baby or kid item you’d love to see in patchwork?
