About Jennie

I'm a wife, daughter, sister, friend, and homemaker who loves to read, write, sew, knit, and attempt to decorate my house on a budget. I generally think I can make anything myself, which often takes twice as long and costs twice as much, but is always an adventure. And I love talking on the phone with my mom, thank goodness for cell phones. I don't know how I'd afford calling her ten times a day without them. Thank you for your interest in this ever-evolving blog (hopefully I'll eventually have my mom blogging too!). While I cannot promise it will always be interesting, I always have something to talk about (just ask my husband, Josiah). So, enjoy the journey of this blissful adventure I'm on!

I live in a little cottage-like Cape Cod in upstate New York where he is stationed in the army. We try to spend as much time outdoors when the weather permits, as we are cooped up inside all winter. However, our evenings are often spent in my sewing room instead, where he works or reads to keep me company.

I have loved handmade products all my life. I grew up with them. My mom made mine and my siblings’ clothes as children; she made our bedspreads, curtains, throw pillows, and an array of other items. She passed that trait on to me and I made my first quilt when I went to college, to make my dorm room seem a little more homey, and I have been making much of my own home décor ever since. For my birthday one year my mom gave me knitting needles, yarn, and an instruction booklet, and I have grown to love knitting as well.
