Beginning the Butterfly Quilt

Lavender Butterflies

I’ve started work on the quilt for baby 3, since I’m now 6 weeks from my due date…I figured it was about time!  I’m using most of the same prints from the Sleeping Sack I made her, and I’m starting with some butterflies just like the ones I made for the Fab Little Quilt Swap.

Sweetwater Text

For the butterfly bodies I’m using this print from Sweetwater’s Sunkissed fabric for Moda.  I know it is a long shot, but if you happen to be or know anyone who is destashing some of this print, I’d love to buy some yardage for a border.  I received a fat quarter of this print in a swap, but haven’t ever been able to find more {if only I’d have known to buy some when I had the chance!}. Found some here, thanks to lovely readers! Hooray!

What are you working on this week?  And, do you have a favorite fabric you wish you’d bought before it was too late?

  1. I bet the quilt is going to be very pretty! I still haven’t started Hannah’s baby quilt. It is much easier to make one before the baby comes, but we like the surprise and I decided that we have enough gender-neutral quilts already so I wanted to wait. I still haven’t decided what I want to make, though…

  2. I’m working on a churn dash quilt… I love the block and I’m making the giant version!! It’s so fun to make…
    Have I told you I love the scotties? I have 2 🙂

  3. I can’t tell if the fabric you’re looking for is white on white or is on light grey. If it’s grey, I think you may be able to find it at

  4. I have lots of 1/4 yd pieces of the Sun-Kissed line but not of the gray with the wording. That particular piece I have in a layer cake and a jelly roll strip. Good luck finding it..

  5. Oh, I can’t wait to see the finished quilt. You always make such lovely pieces …and it will be such a great day once baby #3 arrives. Love and hugs from the ocean shores of California, Heather
