Patterns in the Works {August}

Hazel-Pouch-LargeI really want to thank everyone who voiced their opinion about blogging vs. Instagram! Honestly, comments have been low over the last several months, so it seemed like not very many people were interested in reading. While I don’t want to be begging for comments, at the same time, it is the best way for me to gauge readership for new blog posts. So, if something is particularly interesting to you, or a certain type of post is your favorite, the best way to let me know is to leave a comment. I put my time where the interaction is, and I’d love for there to be more here.

Anyway, back to the projects! Because, I know that’s what you’re here for. Above you can see the new pouch pattern I’m working on, the Hazel pouch trio. I’m really excited about Bonnie & Camille’s new line of fabric, Hello Darling. It reminds me a lot of Ruby, one of their older lines and I sewed with a lot! These pouches are a little different than some of the others I made before, so I am excited to show some new techniques. Now I just need to find the time to write out the pattern!

You-Are-Enough-HoopI’ve also been working on a new embroidery pattern lately too, my friend Jenny sent me this quote on a postcard and I love it! I thought it would be perfect to hang in my girl’s room, so they’ll be encouraged as they get older too!

Garden Bicycle EmbroideryI’ve also been stitching up a new version of my Garden Bicycle Embroidery, which I finally added to the shop. I stitched this up a couple years ago, and have updated pattern covers, so I’m needing a new one for it! If you’re looking for embroidery info, check out my Embroidery 101 tutorials from a few years ago too.

I have some other projects I’ve been working on, are work in progress posts something that interests you? Or would you rather just see finishes?

  1. I love to see what you are working on – doesn’t need to be a ‘finish’ first, before you show it. Your purses/pouches are always amazing to see and I just love your embroidery work – especially the verse you want to hang in your girls’ room. I love it!!

  2. I read your blog almost daily, I just don’t make many comments. Please keep posting tutorials and ideas here because I do not do Instagram! ThNk you, Sandy

  3. I absolutely love that embroidery with the little hexagons!! Reading the comments about IG vs. blogs was helpful to me too. It’s hard to know where things are going these days, and I was wondering if interest in blogs was waning. So good to know that it isn’t!

  4. I’m a faithful reader, but rarely comment (on any blog). Thanks for reminding us know it’s important! I will have to check out your beginner embroidery tutorials it’s something I would love to learn!

  5. I love work in progress posts and I’m so looking forward to the “You are enough just as you are” pattern being ready! I can definitely recommend looking at Embroidery 101. I would describe myself as a complete novice and I was so happy when I managed to do a French knot for the first time! 🙂

  7. I love your blog, I dont do FB. I love Instagram, it’s great for inspiration, but the detail isn’t there … It’s just Insta!!!!
The new pouch looks fabulous too.

  8. I have the same feeling about my blog ever since instagram took over. I guess me myself were less on the blog too these days, desire to get inspired connect has been well fed by Instagram.

However, I still believe that the blog is a great place to share deeper / bigger picture of the projects. Also as a platform to guide people towards patterns etc. So, keep it up! I am on a break before comeing back to it as I have other priorities.

I guess, people still come and visit blog but comment less. I find sometime people come from my Insta to my blog but left a comment on the insta instead!

Good luck with pattern writing. Looking Great Jenny!

  9. I love your blog and enjoy seeing posts of projects-in-the-works! I found you not too long ago when searching for (free) patterns/tutorials on making a little girls’ purse; my granddaughters were on the Big Island of Hawai’i with us, and I allowed them to pick out fabric for a purse. At first I thought I’d design my own, but then I felt overwhelmed (I’m a fairly new sewist), so I did a Google search and you popped up!

The girls live in Japan, and I got to Facetime with them yesterday as they opened the box with their purses in them. They loved them, so thank you for the awesome tutorial!!

Please keep up the posts! I don’t do Instagram, either.

    🙂
