The year 2014 means getting organized and staying organized. It has been a long time in the coming but I am excited to actually get it there and keep it going.
This first picture is my closet with new shelving that my husband put in for me in just a few hours. He cut the melamine shelving to fit and slipped them in with just a small wood trim to rest each shelf on. I have had plastic totes stacked on top of each other for a long time. Originally it was working until I started piling things on top of the storage totes. At that point getting into the totes was getting to be an ordeal that was causing me lots of time and trouble. My plan is to keep one tote per shelf and keep the necessary items in each tote that I can access easily when needed.
I have put some small totes with scraps, sorted by color, on the top shelf along with often used bolts of fabric, interfacing and flannel. Which will also, be easy to access!!
The top shelf of the closet hasn’t been touched yet but I have some rearranging to do there too!
I did tidy up my fabric in my cabinets by folding and stacking. I still have more sorting to do. I have quite a lot of scraps that can be sorted to a new home in there as well. I haven’t decided on how to store them yet. If you have any ideas I am very open to suggestions.
Now to show just a little bit of what I still have to organize, my sewing table. I would really like to keep my table clear of extra things I am not using at the time. This has been one of my main problem areas as well. I am hoping after getting my whole room reorganized it will help with this space too!
My sewing room has spilled over into the office, (my husband’s room), oops!! Good thing he is patient and has not complained about it. We have been storing our Christmas decorations in there since cleaning up our basement last Fall. Now we have a plan to put some shelving down there to hold Christmas boxes and a few more totes that we are storing for our daughter that happens to live in Florida.
I think it’s time to get to work, I have a lot more to do as you can see. It is a little hard for me to show these areas of clutter, these are the ones on the immediate list to do. I still have my bedroom and closet. I won’t think about that too much though so I won’t get discouraged and quit.
Jennie and I are really excited for this new year. We have been chatting and planning some new things that we hope you will like.
Have a great weekend!
