Wavy Line Quilting :: A Video Tutorial

|

I don’t often quilt many quilts, but when I do, my favorite method for quilting is a wavy line. I love it because it’s so easy, and still looks so pretty. Yet I’m always surprised to have people ask me what my technique is, because there isn’t really much to it for me! However, since I am often asked, I thought I’d create a little video showing how I do my wavy line quilting.

Hopefully this shows you how I do things, I’m new at making videos, so I’m sure there’s much to be learned, but it is a fun way to really see what is going on. And here are a couple close ups of the quilting as well:

The quilt in this video is patchwork quilted on flannel, so the quilting may not show up as much as on some other quilts, so I’ve included a couple more examples:

Interestingly, I filmed this video before Christmas as this quilt needed to get to its new home by then, and then when we were coordinating tutorials for the Finish-A-Long, Debbie from A Quilter’s Table made an Organic Straight Line Quilting Tutorial, which is very similar. She does her quilting a little more planned out than I do and it is really stunning. So, if you’d like some additional tips or to see another method, check out here blog post here!

  5. I think this is a great idea and anxious to try. I am new to machine quilting and nervous about it . This seems to be a faster way to get those UFO’s done, also. Thanks for the video
