Hopscotch Mini :: Weekend Quilting Showcase

| |

I had the pleasure of getting to know Jemima of Tied with a Ribbon back in 2015 when we were both members of a birthday club (the group of us sent handmade gifts to each member during her birthday month). I loved seeing the lovely projects Jemima made each month, and I was soon an avid follower of her work. I’m very excited today to be participating in the blog tour for her new book, Weekend Quilting. True to its name, the book contains a variety of projects that could truly be completed in a weekend.

I decided to break into my Liberty of London fabric stash for this project. I have a dream of having Liberty pillows on my couch, so I am working on making a few. I picked a few of my favorite prints and got to work.

I chose the Hopscotch Mini quilt because of it’s cute layout, and because strip piecing is always speedy and very little waste (I’m always worried about wasting Liberty with lots of scraps). I loved Jemima’s version, so I chose similar colors for mine, especially highlighting the pink.

The strip piecing was fun and fast, I was able to get all the blocks sewn in just a couple hours. And before I knew it I had a quilt top.

I just love how this turned out, and that it could easily become a whole quilt too! I cannot wait to get mine turned into a pillow so that I can enjoy it even more.

There are so many sweet projects in this book, that could truly be made in a weekend! Make sure to visit some of the other bloggers to see their makes! And, if you’re checking social media, be sure to look through the #weekendquiltingthebook and #weekendquitlingshowcase tags.

  1. That will be a beautiful pillow when it’s all done. I hope you’ll share any others you make to go with it. Your couch will look so pretty!
