Hello and welcome to my stop on the First Blush Blog Hop, the sweet, vintage style fabric is the debut collection from Ruby Red Designs for Windham Fabrics. This collection can be seen in the First Blush Block of the Month, which is designed by It’s Sew Emma and uses a special 30 degree Starburst ruler by Creative Grids.
When I saw these pretty colors, I immediately thought they would make a perfect picnic quilt. I wanted something that was large and would showcase the pretty prints (and that would sew up quick, as I’m still adjusting to our new routines).
I made a simple four patch using the same measurements from my Take Along Quilt tutorial (the first quilt tutorial I shared on the blog!). The four patches alternate with one large square, so I chose all my favorite larger prints for those.
Here is the whole quilt, it turned out bigger than I anticipated, but my children are already excited to use it (once it gets quilted of course). Just as a little aside, one of my goals this year was to make more quilts, but I haven’t really had much success on that front, so I’m really excited to add this one to our collection!
And some close ups of the fabrics, I found it hard to capture these colors in our warm, southern light, but I hope this shows you how pretty they are!
I hope you’ll take a minute to stop by some of the other blogs on the blog hop and see what they’ve made! Here’s the full schedule (and make srue to scroll all the way down for the giveaways):
Saturday, 15 October – Hillary Jordan @Aurifil
Friday, 21 October – Debbie @Happy Little Cottage
For each day of the hop, Windham Fabrics will giveaway a FQ bundle of the collection, along with a small thread box of First Blush from Aurifil for each stop of the blog tour. Thank you Aurifil!
*Additionally, Fat Quarter Shop will be giving away 4 books of patterns for their First Blush Block Of The Month (BOM) and 4 patterns of the quilt ‘Posy‘ on these days
Leave a comment on this post with your favorite thing about fall (or spring, if you’re in the southern hemisphere!). Contest is open through Thursday, October 27th. Contest is open to US and International entries. Winners will be chosen randomly from comments posted on blog posts and will be announced Friday, October 28th.
