My Five Favorite Quick Gifts to Sew

| |

This week, I’ve got my five favorite quick gifts to sew—plus one bonus idea that requires a bit more advanced planning! Because I love speedy sewing, most of these can be whipped up in a couple of hours or less.

Instead of listing a bunch of great tutorials, I went back through my Instagram and looked at the photos of things I’ve made for people over and over again, and these were the top projects.

Quick Gift Zipper Pouch

By far, my favorite gifts to make are zipper pouches. You can watch my YouTube zipper tutorial here. I almost always make my pouches 7″ x 9″, often with fun treats stuffed inside.

Katie Book Sleeve

Next up, book sleeves with books or gift cards. I just love all the customizations that can be made to these gifts. They also work great for iPads, tablets, laptops, etc. Grab a copy of the Katie Book Sleeve pattern here.

Embroidered Hoop Ornaments

Monogram ornaments. I made these using a chain stitch, Isabella Script font, perle cotton no.8, and framed in a 3″ embroidery hoop. I’m an embroidery lover at heart, so they were so much fun to make. You can find links to the stitches and other ideas on my blog here.

Drawstring Bags

One of my favorite gifts, drawstring bags

Another of my five favorite quick gifts to sew are drawstring bags. These are a great go-to, with no zippers involved. I use the S.O.T.A.K Handmade style and make them in all sorts of sizes. You can watch the video here.

Fabric Baskets

Fabric Baskets

Fabric baskets are another favorite quick gift to sew, especially for someone in my home because I also use them for organizing drawers, toys, and bedside tables. My favorite is the One Hour Basket by Kelby Sews and I usually make the Eleni size. Grab the pattern here.

Key Fobs

Bonus—Another favorite gift is Keyfobs, but you’ll need to have hardware in advance, so that’s why I’m adding them at the bottom of this list. You can get my easy-peasy method for making these and some favorite hardware shops on the blog here.

Have you made any of these projects as gifts? Which was your favorite? I’d love to know!
