My Five Favorite Quilting Tools—I Use These Every Day

|

I know there are many, many gift guides for quilters this time of year, so instead of making you a giant list of all the things I love (because I love all the sewing things), I’m sharing my five favorite quilting tools with you, the things I use day in and day out, that are sure to make any quilter smile and not break your budget either, so here they are:

My Five Favorite Quilting Tools:

  • Continuous Mist Spray Bottle—I use this all the time when I’m pressing. It delivers just enough water to get my fabric nice and crisp. I fill mine with this DIY Best Press!
  • Original 1/4″ Presser Foot—I always had a hard time getting an accurate 1/4″ seam until I tried this foot. Bonus, it’s made by my local quilt shop! They are available for a variety of machines.
  • Quilter’s Clapper—I had heard about these and honestly thought it probably didn’t make a difference. Boy, was I wrong!! Even if you don’t make many quilt blocks, do not underestimate how well these work for bag handles and bias tape!
  • Clover Seam Ripper—I have tried all the seam rippers, and I still always go back to this one as my very favorite. Maybe it’s just easier to hold? I’m not exactly sure what makes it my favorite, but it is!
  • Karen Kay Buckley Scissors—I have a variety of scissors, so when I got these in a subscription box, I figured they couldn’t be much different than any others. Well, after a few uses they quickly became my favorites. These are the 7 1/2″ scissors, but I’m eyeing the 6 1/2″ pair too!

If you haven’t tried some of these products and are looking for something to put on your wishlist, these are my five favorite quilting tools that I rarely sew without and always pack with me if I’m going to someone else’s (or on a retreat) to sew.

I’d love for you to share your top two or three tools that you always use in the comments to give a few more ideas for great items that are more like necessities than bells and whistles type of things!
